I want to follow the dream I had when I was younger, but I have very low confidence in my skills. I want to make manga. Don't care whether it's fan manga or original manga. It'll probably be easier for me if I start out with fan manga. But my low confidence in my drawing skills comes from several areas: my drawing isn't fluid; I still have problems with anatomy, angels, poses, etc.; I can't draw backgrounds for the life of me (buildings, cityscapes, landscapes, or even simple backgrounds like Naoko Takeuchi used to draw in her Sailor Moon artwork.) I've been drawing since I was 5 and I still draw like I did when I was in high school. Real life got involved almost 5 years ago when I met my husband, and I ended up losing myself and I got distracted easily, went through several depressions, had a baby, and then the pen to my Wacom tablet broke and since we're on a tight budget, I couldn't get a new one. All of that is what discouraged me from drawing and the depressions actually kept me from drawing. I just couldn't make myself do it.
Things are looking better now. We're a little more stable now, I have a new job that gives me morning hours and therefore gives me more time to be with my daughter during the day and also more time to do whatever I want, and I'm also on medication that's stabalizing my emotions (I'm bipolar type 2) and I can focus better and I'm happier now. And now that tax returns are coming in within these next couple of weeks and we actually don't have to use it on our vehicles, I'll be able to get a new Wacom tablet! It's going to be a Wacom Intuos Pro (medium)! I'm also going to be getting a new monitor too (a 27"). These last several tax returns we had to use to fix up our vehicles that were having issues, and last year we bought a truck and a van - to replace the Volkswagen we had before. And I didn't have a vehicle at all before last year.
I'm going to be looking at tutorials now and installing art programs. Already have 2 installed (Krita and MyPaint - thought I'd try them out.) Of course I still have Paint Tool Sai - I use it even for non-art purposes (like for opening a screenshot and trimming to a certain area or whatever - so much easier to do in Sai.) And I also have Photoshop CS2 - but only because it's free lol. Would love to have the newest Photoshop, but I'm not paying that much for it.
Just getting really excited and I'm getting so pumped!

Cleaned up my dA Page
So I've been doing a lot of drawing lately. It started with a fanart contest hosted by Pearl Abyss (creators of Black Desert Online), and I drew a picture to submit to it (here), and I actually had a lot of fun with it! I pushed myself to do my absolute best, even though I'm still not very good with anatomy or backgrounds (I used a LOT of references, still didn't get the background to look the way I wanted it to, but it's definitely better than it was when I first drew it.) I think getting into this game, and then participating in their fanart contest was the best thing to happen to me in a long time, it made me re-discover my love for art! I'm almost finished with my second drawing for this year (got the base colors down, just got to do the shading and highlights!) and I've already got a third one planned (a request from my step-daughter) and I've got a lot of ideas buzzing around my head for more drawings. I'm wanting to get away from the anime style, I have been for a few years now
Commissions?
Would anyone be interested in buying commissions from me? I'll only accept Paypal at the moment, since we're so tight on money. (If you guys are wondering about that job I had posted a while ago, it didn’t work out since it required driving to several places just to rake up hours and we ran out of gas before my first day of work, we just couldn’t afford the gas off just my hubby’s income…) So I thought I’d try to make some extra money doing something I love - drawing! Plus it’ll help me get better the more I draw. :)
Another question I have is, how would I set Paypal up on dA so I can receive money from pe
Flower Children
I'm working on re-drawing my Flower Children manga. :) I know I only drew 2 pages before, but I'm hoping to finish it this time. Even if I have to make it short (I'm thinking of "movie length", not episodic.) It's a part of the Inktober event, so all if it is drawing completely in ink on mixed media paper. I kinda like drawing manga this way, instead of digitally. There are some things I need to get better at though (like hatching...ugh...I'm great at cross-hatching, but I'm terrible at hatching lol.) I've almost finished page 1. Looks like it might take me 2 days to draw one page. That isn't too bad. :) Maybe whenever I'm finished with it,
Got a job!
Hey guys, I got a job! And it looks like I'll still have time for art! It's a part time job, and I'll be working in the mornings, so my hubby can watch our kids, then when I come home I go through my normal routine and once I put the kids down to bed, I'll still have the same amount of time that I've always had to work on new drawings! I like this job too. I have a little control over my own hours. It's a janitorial job, and I'll be sent to different places. Once I'm finished with my assignments for the day, I can either go on home or call my employer to see if they have any other place they want to send me so I can get more hours.
But the k
